Checkout this mad piece of Drag Racing history, back in an era when more motors where better. Posted @withrepost • @cycledrag Top Fuel Motorcycle Racing Legend Russ Collins.. Using three 1,000cc Honda engines mounted together as a V8 stlye mill, “The Sorcerer” quickly established itself as one of the greatest drag racing motorcycles of all time. It ran 7.30/199.55 which was a record that stood for ELEVEN YEARS. That’s how you do it!

Die foto is de "Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe", eerste deel van de omschrijving is correct, alleen haalde de A,T&SF 'maar' 7.80 sec./179.5.

Not many will have heard of Dennis Jones or his home built supercharged 4 cylinder two stroke motorcycle. Built I believe at age 18 while working at Rolls Royce during the second world war. "This entailed making the patterns to get castings done, no mean feat during WWII with the restrictions and all the machining nessesary , most done on a 1900 flat belt Muir lathe that had had 8 feet chopped off one end so he could get it in his shed !!" This is Claude Temple, on the machine here called a 996cc Montgomery- British Anzani. He has won, at Brooklands, 7 June 1924, a five lap 1000cc solo scratch race at 105.32 mph, at that date the highest speed for a motorcycle race at that venue ! The bloke standing behind the machine, with cigarette, is the engine designer, Hubert Hagens of Belgium . Claude Temple developed this machine over several years, and this is why it had name changes, depending which company or individual had an interest, generally promotional, in the machine . ( Ref: " All the Years at Brooklands " by Gerry Belton ).
