Grappig dat de tijden redelijk vergelijkbaar zijn met precies een jaar geleden:
Wel meer mensen binnen een halve seconde van elkaar, dat belooft wat voor met name de korte races op zondagochtend. Ik ben stiekem best wel benieuwd naar alle nieuwe gezichten, nieuwe motoren en nieuwe combinaties. Het zou goed zijn voor de MotoA als Gerloff zich staande weet te houden tussen de Europeanen, het zou goed zijn als Honda werkelijk competitief is, goed als Redding de overstap net zo vlekkeloos weet te maken als naar de BSB, en stiekem hoop ik dat Van der Mark een Turkse schop onder de reet krijgt die hij zo nu en dan nodig heeft om optimaal te presteren.

Nieuwe ride-height/hole shot device van Ducati.
Daarmee zouden ze de achterkant hoogte kunnen vastzetten/stellen voor meer grip de bochten uit;

Two days of #WorldSBK testing from Australia upcoming.
The test is split into four 90 minute sessions.

Superbike Race Distance: 22 laps
Lap Record - Rea 1m29.413 (2019)
Race Record - Bautista33m38.114 (2019)
Weather: 20-24C with chance of rain on Tuesday
Rea: Last year was a struggle at PI because of his setting (and the step Bau made in attacking the race & making the tyre last) so the focus will be on improving base setting.
Tyres always crucial here so there'll definitely focus on longer runs to understand this
Lowes: Focused on learning the Kawa at another new track.
With so many fast corners it's different to other tracks used in the winter.
Biggest positive for him is that the team understand the bike so base setting should be good.
Tuesday the goal will be to focus on longer runs
Davies: Ducati tested a new rear package in Jan & having understood this the goal now is to make a step forward with performance.
Team always planed to confirm their 2020 package after Portimao so now it's about getting the most from it
Redding: Initial tests he talked about wanting to lay a marker to Rea so testing in Portimao without him will mean he'll be keen to have the benchmark back.
Scott is still trying to full understand the Q-tyre (even though he's not a big fan of having to use it) but looking strong
VDM: Yamaha have made a big step with the 2020 bike.
Improved power, better drive grip and easier to ride.
In Portimao VDM tested new suspension components from Ohlins and liked them.
Phillip Island is a very different track but important to show they can carry progress forward
Toprak: Qualifying was his weakness in 2019 but the Yamaha is easier to ride on this tyre and he made a step with the Q-tyre.
Said in Portimao this bike is easier to turn and he feels good with it already so he should be confident for this weekend
Baz: We needed track time last year to understand the bike after missing the start of the season but now we feel that we're trying to get the performance from it.
Felt comfortable and consistent on a race run in Portimao and much more confident with Q-tyre (a weakness last year)
Sykes: Focus in Portimao was on brakes, electronics, chassis...pretty much everything!
Didn't focus on lap times in Portimao but said that it was hard not to sneak a few looks at the screens!
Tom said that their consistency on used tyres was very strong again
Laverty: Another new bike for Laverty and the target in testing was to undersand the base & then improve the electronics.
Initially he struggled to find the right feeling for the throttle but they've made a step.
Now the goal has to be to make a big step in performance this week

Inderdaad. Marquez gewoon weer kampioen. Zelfs zonder schouders.

Denk dat Marquez het dit seizoen niet zo makkelijk krijgt ook vañwege zn schouder blessure,maar Vinales en Quarteraro gaan m flink tegenstand geven.

Ja ik verwacht Vinales, Quarteraro en zeker ook Rins sterk genoeg om ieder wedstrijd voor het podium/overwinning te vechten. Dovi en Rossi weet ik nooit zo tijdens het voorseizoen.

Interessante evolutie
, in principe is het alleen voor de start bedacht.Maar er zijn meer problemen mee aan te pakken als het subtieler kan werken.
Het is dan wel letterlijk na de bocht, en niet bocht uit (tijdens de bocht).

In de MX gebruiken ze dit al langer, maar ook in de top van de wegrace al ongeveer 15 jaar of langer.
Even afwachten of het ook daadwerkelijk anders gaat werken dan alleen aan het begin van de wedstrijd.
De bron staat ook al boven in een mail en e.a. is gebaseerd op systemen uit het mountainbiken.

Niet alle jaren, maar zelfs Aprilia heeft een hole shot systeem.
Ducati heeft het er in ieder geval het hele 2019 seizoen mee gereden.
“hole shot systems come an go. You will not tell the competition you have them, so it is some kind of a mystery who started this. You pushed a button on the fork and it locked the inner tube to the outer about 100..120mm from the top.
In 2004, Showa brought this into the public with BSB.
Today we are unsure about whether Ducati are running a similar set up in 2019 or whether it’s on the rear linkage, but either way the rider controls it from the dash. In fact it is very easy to apply, push the brake, drop the suspension and then turn the knob to lock it in place.
With a holeshot device you can apply central weight and just stay there, instead of getting thrown back by a MotoGP machine when you drop the clutch.
Less wheelie and more traction is the mechnical benefit of a good hole shot system and leaves electronics not to cut the power.”
