The problem I have with it is not that the R1 forks themselves are not better. They almost certainly are, and you probably can tell the are stiffer. I felt a difference in front end stiffness on the track. The real problem is that the R1 forks are 2in shorter overall compared to the stock R6 forks which compromised the whole package. This necessitates placing the clipons under the triple clamp which requires aftermarket clipons and bodywork modifications, using a 70 series tire, and using all the available fork tube. Even with this the ride height in the front is 12mm under what it should be. This leads to decreased ground clearance and less stability from the front end especially under trail braking and off throttle cornering. The forks may be better, but the bike will handle worse.
If you are looking for stronger brakes with better feel then spend $250 and buy a brembo (or AP) radial master cylinder and spend $100 on stainless steel lines, and you will have a setup better than the stock 05 R6's for much less money than doing the conversion.
If you want a better fork suspension then spend $400-700 and have someone totally rework your forks with onlins/traxxion/racetech valves and springs. That's about what you would spend anyway on this conversion.
